National Security Authority is the central body of state administration, which is responsible for protection of classified information, encryption services, and electronic signature. - What is classified information?
Classified information shall be any information or object specified by the originator of the classified information, which must, in the interests of the Slovak Republic, remain protected from disclosure, damage, unauthorised duplication, destruction, loss or theft, - What does protection of classified information mean?
It is an establishment of conditions for personnel security, physical security, security of information, industrial security, encryption protection and security of technical devices. - Who is authorized to handle classified information?
An authorised person shall be a corporate entity or individual designated for acquaintance with classified information or whose authorisation for acquaintance with classified information ensues from the law. - In what areas does NSA conduct its activities?

- By protecting of classified information NSA:
- Conducts inspections on protection of classified information within central bodies of state administration, municipalities, and corporate entities
- Conducts security clearance of nominees, and issues or revokes nominees’ certificates for handling classified information.
- Issues or revokes Security Facility Clearance for corporate entities
- Certifies, or gives an approval to certify technical devices, mechanical prevention devices, and technical safeguarding devices.
- By protecting of foreign information NSA:
- Protects classified information within the scopes of given bilateral and multilateral agreements
- Fulfills the role of Central Registry when exchanging classified information.
- By encryption protection of information NSA:
- Fulfills the task of the Central Encryption Office of the Slovak republic
- Conducts security inspections of encryption protection of information
- Is in charge of governmental and foreign transmission
- Within the electronic signature NSA:
- Is the central body of state administration for the electronic signature
- Fulfills the tasks of root certification authority
- Certifies safe products for electronic signature
- Conducts accreditation of certifications authorities
- Provides services to other bodies of state administration in their efforts to establish an electronic signature within their competencies
